The first ever game for Bacton in the Senior Division. Everybody at the club has worked so hard to get everything ready for that first game. A massive thanks to all those involved from the Grounds Team, the Chairman, Neil Hitter, Ray Goudy, Robbie Walker and many more for all their help in making it happen.
From the moment I got the call asking whether we’d like to accept the league’s invitation to accept promotion, everybody has worked tirelessly to make it happen. Yes we were fortunate that Thurston weren’t able to go up but in life sometimes you get given an opportunity and you just have to take it.
This is where I must give enormous thanks to last years squad for all their efforts in finishing strong and just pipping AFC Kesgrave into 3rd place in Div1 by a superior goal difference. We’ve lost some lads from that squad so big thankyou’s to Harley Jordan Smith and Josh Buckles who are now playing higher with Stowmarket, Tom Davey who has gone back to play for Scole and Ryan Norman who after a long lay off due to injury last year decided to hang the boots up this season.
Pre-season went really well, In fact I don’t think I’ve enjoyed a pre-season more in years. Paul Evans has taken charge of the A team and it’s been excellent to share each session with him over the summer. We have also welcomed Neil Fryatt to the Reserves Management Team and Tom Fisher to assist Neil and I with the First Team, I’m sure both will have a big impact. Numbers have been excellent for every session and I hope that continues through the season. All three senior teams train together, that’s the way its always been, It’s been great to see the amount of young lads come into the club this year and push those older ones to keep the standards high!
We also have to say welcome to Ben Moon who has been a brilliant addition to the clubs committee. All the new social media and soon to be released new ‘website’ are down to Ben, finally someone that really knows what he’s doing with a computer!
We’ve played 2 games so far and its been a very different experience to previous seasons! More people watching for a start which is always good, 3 officials which makes the game feel like a proper game of football and due to the dug outs being moved to the opposite side of the pitch a different view from the last 10 seasons!
4 points from the first two games is a good start, our strikers have scored 5 goals between them so long may that continue! We have added some top lads to the squad, Martin Moore, Tyler Howell, Tyler Perkins and Sam Gutteridge, also Sam Beales who has stepped up from the Reserves and been outstanding.
We have a tough game away at Wickham Market on Saturday so any away support would be greatly welcome. We go there in good spirits looking to get our away form up and running!
Best wishes
Ryan
